Sunny Odum, a native of Agbor in the state of Delta, was the Igbo Union's secretary from 1999 to 2004 and its chairman from 2010 until his resignation in 2011 for personal reasons. the Union is a legally recognized non-governmental cultural organization. All IGBO natives residing in Finland are eligible to join the Igbo Union of Finland. Our membership is made up of both Igbo citizens of Nigeria who reside in Finland and anyone who is interested in learning about and identifying with the Igbo culture. The union has 205 active members and has participated in cultural events for the past fifteen years. These events were created to provide union members with a sense of belonging in a culture where they are the minority.
